IInteract 5160 District Council (DC) is an organization of high school students across Northern California, united region-wide who provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build understanding, goodwill and peace in the world.
District Council:
Organizes 4+ district-wide events, in addition to smaller localized fundraisers/events
Support local Interact Clubs within District 5160
Raises awareness and funds for global and local issues and organizations.
Members of the District Council are Interactors (high school-aged students associated with a local Interact Club or Rotary Youth Program).

Positions and Requirements
- Attend all District Council meetings, events, and activities
- Responsible for coordinating own transportation to event
- Be active in discussions, share ideas, give input at District Council meetings
- Assist fellow District Council members with their tasks; step up in tasks for those who are not actively completing their deliverables
- Responsible for keeping all District Council members “in line” of duties, be assertive when a District Council member does not complete assigned tasks; aware of each District Council position’s duties
- Form strong bonds with one another
- Alert of all district functions, check Slack regularly
- Responsible for “passing on the duty;” retain any materials necessary to pass on to future District Council members during the year
- Be ready to present any updates or materials at meetings
- Responsible for paying for District Council uniforms and admission to all District events
- Responsible for paying for District Council uniforms and admission to all District events
- Organize four district wide events encompassing 40+ Interact clubs
- Prepare agenda and lead the monthly District Council meetings
- Create event timelines
- Coordinate all Office Hours with the Leadership Team
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to District Council members
- District Ambassadors: District Governors notify District Ambassadors when to draft an email or tell delegates when to send emails
- District Delegate: District Governors receive and relay information from District Ambassadors to and from District Delegates
- Logistics/Secretary: District Governors approve event supply lists
- Publicist: District Governors create succinct captions and posts for social media in order to the publicist to post
- Webmasters: District Governors notify Webmasters about when to post openings for sales and newsletter
- Service Coordinator: District Governors make sure the District Services Coordinators are on track to execute their events and support in planning
- Fundraising Coordinator: District Governors make sure that all fundraising events led by the Fundraising Coordinator are fully executed
- Keep various District Council members accountable for their tasks
- Meet with Rotarians and other community members to further the reaches of Interact and give constant updates
- Assist District Governors with any tasks that are needed to be completed
- Organize four district wide events encompassing 40+ Interact clubs
- In charge of booking event venues and organizing food for meetings and events
- Maintain communication with school officers of local Interact clubs and Rotary Advisors
- Work with contracting and following up on outside resources
- Work directly with Logistics/Secretary, Activities Coordinator, and Youth Programs Liaison
- Logistics/Secretary: Lieutenant Governors look over the meeting minutes from Logistics/Secretary and approve them as well as notify District Governors of approval by the Tuesday (before 11:59 PM) following the previous meeting or event
- Activities Coordinator: Lieutenant Governors approve games from Activities Coordinator and notify District Governors the day of approving the games
- Youth Programs Liaison: Lieutenant Governors ensure that Youth Programs take notes at all Rotaract and YEX meetings. Look over, approve, and notify District Governors no later than 3 days after the meetings.
- Maintain the District Council email and materials for District Council
- Create Friendly Reminders to keep District Council members on track
- Contact respective District Delegates for every other week area updates and make sure it is uploaded into the Google Spreadsheet titled “DC 20-21 Area Updates” (Every other week by 8:00AM Monday morning)
- Assist District Delegates with contacting clubs
- Make sure that district delegates are hosting monthly area meetings and area events
- Make sure District Delegates are informed about district events and are informing Interact Presidents
- Create email templates for Delegates to send to their respective clubs
- Contact District Delegates about event headcounts and names from each school
- Maintain communication with school officers of local Interact clubs and Rotary Advisors
- Delegate call once a month
- Establishes and MAINTAINS connections with/among the clubs, presidents, Rotary Clubs, and faculty advisors in their assigned areas
- Keeps District Council (governors/lieutenant governors/district delegates) updated on the ongoing communication/events/complications/fundraisers/volunteer events of their designated area.
- EXPECTED:
- Post updates on Remind and present a concise area update on all school clubs [in designated area] at each District Council meeting
- Host “Area Events” that include aspects of a social gathering, a service project, and a fundraiser toward our service project, inviting all Interactors, Rotarians, and faculty members from their respective clubs (one event per semester)
- Usually in-person. Emails must be sent out AT LEAST 14 days in advance to the interactors in you respective areas
- Update “District Directory” frequently
- Host “Area Meetings” at least once a month, inviting presidents, officers, Rotarians, and faculty advisors to plan fundraisers, events, and bond!
- Usually digital. Emails must be sent out AT LEAST 7 days in advance to the interactors in you respective areas
- Area Updates: Provides the webmaster with a typed update at the 1st of each month
- Maintain communication with school officers of local Interact clubs and Rotary Advisors
- Proposes a variety of planned activities to District Council at least a month prior to a district event/area event
- Plans and executes social activities at all District events and meetings (e.g. ice breakers at Kick Off)
- 2 days prior to any event or meeting
- Bonding activities outside of meetings
- Every month or two
- Notify DGs three weeks, DC 2 weeks
- Secures all materials required
MANDATORY SUPPLEMENT: Come up with two unique games (i.e. no heads up seven up or games that were used at this year’s DC events). Make sure to explain the game so that the instructions are easily understood in the supplement box of your application.
- Serves as the District’s “design” specialist (for flyers, posters, shirts, etc)
- Creates District newsletters monthly
- Publicizes the district goals and functions by means of video, posters, flyers, etc. [all materials must be accessible to all the clubs in the district]
- Acts as a photographer at all district functions (including meetings)
- Responsible for uploading pictures/videos in a timely manner on SmugMug (by Wednesday night, before 11:59 PM) following the previous meeting or event. Notify the District Governors after uploading.
- Responsible for the making of an Interact slideshow for the end of the year
- Must be equipped with camcorder and camera at all events, as well as have ample knowledge for editing videos and formatting pictures
- Work with Webmaster (send posters and flyers to webmaster to post on website, at least 3 months prior to event)
MANDATORY SUPPLEMENT: Attach a previous poster that you’ve made for an event or create a poster demonstrating a DC event. If you’re making a new poster, just assume that the event is a conference and use random times/places/dates for details.
- Takes notes during each meeting
- Records all Delegate Updates during full District Council meetings (other updates not covered in meetings will be uploaded into a spreadsheet directly by the Delegates)
- Send meeting notes to Lieutenant Governors by the following Monday by 11:59 PM after a meeting or event. Get meeting minutes approval from Lieutenant Governors by Tuesday by 11:59 PM
- Sends meeting notes to Webmaster to post on the website by the following Wednesday by 11:59 PM after a meeting or event
- Coordinates food for events and meetings
- Brings snacks for meetings and events (will be reimbursed for purchases)
- In charge of buying raw materials needed for activities (construction paper, tape, etc)
- Stay on top of all paperwork concerning the Council
- Reimbursement forms, proof of insurance for use of a facility, permission slips
- Make sure the money box is secure and brought to and from events
- Add on any time deliverables (i.e. when the Webmaster needs to upload meeting minutes) onto the Google Calendar
- Organize Google Drive
- Creates and maintains a user-friendly Interact District 5160 website
- Aware of all district events and is active in updating changes on the website
- Keeps an accessible calendar of district events on the website
- Oversees technological operations at events (i.e. Interact Conference)
- Creates and maintains accessible databases on the website
- Creates web pages for other clubs who are in need
- Keeps track of all payments needed to be paid for the website
- Note: must have ample knowledge of web designing, as well as being tech/comp savvy
- Works with Publicist and Logistics/Secretary
- Publicist: Webmaster receives flyers and posters to post on website (at least 3 months prior to event)
- Logistics/Secretary: Webmaster receives meeting minutes on Wednesday (before 11:59 PM) from Logistics/Secretary, and upload meeting minutes onto the website (by Thursday night, before 11:59 PM) following the previous meeting or event.
MANDATORY SUPPLEMENT: List technical experience you have (HTML, CSS, WordPress, graphic design, etc.)
- Attend Rotaract District Council Meetings and Rotaract and YEX functions
- Take at least half a page of notes per meeting and upload into the folder “Youth Program Liaison” with the title of the document as: Meeting Notes for MM/DD/YEAR
- Responsible for planning/executing one joint project/event with Rotaract
- Keeps District Council informed of YEX and Rotaract activities and vice versa
- Maintains strong relationships with Rotaract District Council, especially the Rotaract District Governor and Lieutenant Governor
MANDATORY SUPPLEMENT: List three major Rotaract clubs in the District
- Organize 4 District-wide activities that connect to our service project
- At least 2 semester events per year OR at least 4 quarter events (fall, winter, spring, summer) per year OR a mix of a semester/ 2 quarter events/activities organized within the District and/or collaborative with another Interact District preferably not in the United States
- Promote to individual clubs what the service project is and how they can contribute
- Stay in charge of the money that may be raised through these activities
- Create Project Plan, titled “Project Plan for _______ (i.e. International Pen Pals)” that includes:
- Brief description of the event
- Goals of the event (money raised, amount of supplies made, number of attendees, etc.)
- Expected timeline with the date that each task that needs to be completed and who needs to do it
- List of supplies/resources needed
- Description on what is needed of the District Governors to help

Hi everyone! My name is Mikenzie Hapworth-Eldridge from Winters High School in Area 4. I am currently the Area 4,5,6,7 delegate and would love to start connecting with more members from my Area! I have been in Interact 4 years and president of my Winters High School Interact Club for two! I attended Camp Royal this summer, a Rotary led leadership camp and loved meeting other Interactors!
