IInteract 5160 District Council (DC) is an organization of high school students across Northern California, united region-wide who provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build understanding, goodwill and peace in the world.
District Council:
Organizes 4+ district-wide events, in addition to smaller localized fundraisers/events
Support local Interact Clubs within District 5160
Raises awareness and funds for global and local issues and organizations.
Members of the District Council are Interactors (high school-aged students associated with a local Interact Club or Rotary Youth Program).

- Attend all District Council meetings, events, and activities
- Be active in discussions, take initiative at District Council meetings
- Collaborate with & assist fellow District Council members
- Keep self and other District Council members accountable
- Be responsive on Slack
- Form strong bonds with one another
- Organize 4+ district-wide events encompassing 40+ Interact clubs
- Prepare agenda and lead frequent District Council meetings
- Create event timelines
- Delegate tasks to District Council members, and ensure that all are contributing equally
- Meet with Rotarians and form partnerships with organizations to extend the impact of Interact
- Be a positive role model for all members of the district
- Assist District Governor
- Organize 4+ district-wide events encompassing 40+ Interact clubs
- Take notes at District Council meetings
- Keep track of District Council members’ progress, and ensure that all are contributing equally
- Oversee Delegates by providing event-planning guidance, setting deadlines, and maintaining firm expectations
- Track District Council members’ attendance and participation
- Be a positive role model for all members of the district
- Organize activities for all district-wide events that connect to annual service project
- Promote to individual clubs what the service project is and how they can contribute
- Research for and form connections with organizations supporting annual service project
- Create Project Plans:
- Brief description of the activity
- Goals of the activity
- Expected timeline for preparation with the date that each task that needs to be completed and who needs to do it
- List of supplies/resources needed
- Description on what is needed of the District Governors to help
MANDATORY SUPPLEMENT: Describe an organization that District 5160 could work with for our year-long service project and describe 2 activities that you would organize to connect to this service project.
- Establish and maintain connections with Interact, Rotary, presidents, and advisors
- Inform members of District 5160 of upcoming events and mobilize greater participation
- Keep District Council updated on the ongoing communications of the designated area(s)
- Host Area Events that include aspects of a social gathering, a service project, and/or a fundraiser, inviting all local Interactors, Rotarians, and advisors
- Propose a variety of novel yet engaging activities to District Council at least a month prior to a district-wide event.
- Account for materials needed for activities and execute activities during events, making sure to engage/include as many people as possible
- Plan bonding activities for District Council
MANDATORY SUPPLEMENT: Come up with one unique game to play at an event (i.e. no heads up seven up or games that were used at this year’s DC events). Make sure to explain the game so that the instructions are easily understood in the supplement box of your application.
- Attend YEX meetings as an active participant, taking notes and reporting back to District Council
- Keep District Council informed of YEX and Rotaract activities and vice versa
- Find ways to include YEX and Rotaract in district-wide events, and vice versa
- Serve as the District’s “design” specialist
- Publicizes the district goals and functions by means of video, posters, flyers, etc
- Acts as a photographer at all district functions (including meetings)
- Must have ample knowledge for editing videos and formatting pictures
- Collaborate with Webmaster
MANDATORY SUPPLEMENT: Attach a previous poster that you’ve made for an event or create a poster demonstrating a DC event. If you’re making a new poster, just assume that the event is a conference and use random times/places/dates for details.
- Create and maintain a user-friendly Interact District 5160 website
- Be quick to impose changes on the website, especially when an event is coming up
- Keeps an accessible calendar of district events on the website
- Keeps track of all payments needed to be paid for the website as well as all payments collected via the website
- Note: must have ample knowledge of web designing, as well as being tech/computer savvy

Hi! I’m Katelyn and I’m a junior at Miramonte High School in Area 8. I’ve been apart of Interact for three years now and this year, I’m serving as the club co-president at my high school. Outside of Interact, I love going on hikes, playing sports, trying new restaurants, going to concerts, and traveling. I am so excited to be apart of District Council and can’t wait for this year!

Hi, Interactors! My name is Sura and I’m a current junior at Dougherty Valley High School. I serve as Webmaster of both the District Council and the DVHS’ Interact Club. This will be my second year in the club but first year on DC, I am beyond excited! Aside from DC and Interact, I enjoy writing for DVHS’ school newspaper, spreading awareness on mental illness through NAMI, and informing others on neuroscience, and crocheting. Hello everyone! My name is Lauren Dela Rosa, and I’ll be working as the Interact District Council’s advisor for a third year. I was an interactor in high school (in D5180), joined Cal Rotaract while studying at UC Berkeley, and now continue my Rotary work through Interact and Rotaract. Aside from Rotary and volunteering, I work as a math teacher at Berkeley High School, and in my free time enjoy boba runs, spending time with my cats, or going to K-Pop concerts.
